Tour of Proton Center

This is in front of the elevator I take to go down two floors to level B where I lay in this white "pod" and the porton beams shoot through me from the machine on the right.

Treatment number 17 is now in the books and shortly after finishing this teatment we drove to the Ontario airport and met Karen. On our way back to Redlands we stopped again at the treatment center where they gave us a quick tour. Ruth and Karen were able to sneak a peek back in the Gantry. Here are some photos that Karen took.

  • Randy, we got your Christmas message and it sounded like I should be very concerned for your health. Then I read your blog, and I was thinking I should be signing up for such a good adventure. Seriously, it sounds like the usual Ruth approach "tackle it with gusto" is prevailing, and I hope the treatments continue to go well.

I'd send you an e-mail, but that address disappeared long ago -- amidst one of the many system crashes that I seem to have endured over the past years.

Computers make me think of our pioneering days in Seattle when we bought those two Apple computers to sit on our desks while the IBM 1130 was grinding away in the back room and we had several people spending their time doing inut (were we still using punch cards by then?) Talk about a lot of time having passed.

Thanks for the Christmas update on Emily, Peter and Piper, and it sounds like Karen is doing well in the big City.

    Take care....your old friends,

    Clay and JoAnn

  • Randy please send me your e-mail address...want to write you buddy, but have a message for you not the whole world. I'm distressed but sounds like you are making good progress. Thx, talk to later. JPA jahlers@scblaw.com

  • Merry Christmas you two! We miss you. I have received a few updates from Cindy Phillippi. She tells us you are doing so well - which is nothing less than we expect of you, you know! How's Ruth? I suppose you are both very tan and not thinking of us at all. I walked Jesse tonight and I heard Molly crying when we got home - it was around 6 p.m. I put Jesse in the house and I walked back over and went through the front gate on our side. Molly went running into the backyard and I didn't have a flashlight so I came back home and got Roy. He got your housekey out (thanks for leaving all that beer for us, by the way!) and went back over to be sure that Molly could get in. When he got to the front porch Molly was inside barking at him so he just came back home. I would assume she was just a little lonesome. As lonesome as she may have been she wanted NOTHING to do with me. I miss your cheery smile and would love to hear from you guys. Tell Em and Peter Merry Christmas for us and if Karen is around give her a big hug. Take care and we'll see you real soon! Much love, Carol and Roy
